Travel eSIM FAQs

Everything you need to know before buying a travel eSIM.

What is a travel eSIM?

A travel eSIM is a digital SIM you install on your phone to get mobile data abroad — no physical SIM card needed. You buy a plan online, scan a QR code, and connect the moment you land.

Which devices are eSIM-compatible?

Most phones from 2018 onward support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and recent Samsung Galaxy S, Note, and Z models. Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked. Check Settings for an 'Add eSIM' or 'Add Mobile Plan' option to confirm.

Do travel eSIMs support 5G?

Yes — many providers offer 5G-capable plans where the local network supports it. Use the 5G filter on any country page to show only 5G plans.

Are unlimited data eSIMs really unlimited?

Most 'unlimited' plans include a daily or total high-speed allowance, after which speeds are reduced (often 128kbps–1Mbps). Always check the plan's throttling details before buying.

How do I install an eSIM?

After purchase you receive a QR code by email. Open your phone settings, choose 'Add eSIM', and scan it. You can install before you travel and activate on arrival.

Can one eSIM cover multiple countries?

Yes. Regional and global eSIMs cover many countries on a single plan — ideal for multi-stop trips. Browse the region pages to compare them.
